Dolceola and Guitar Demonstration: Andy Cohen
Instrument Demonstration
Andy Cohen specializes in the Reverend Gary Davis guitar
style. Cohen, an anthropologist, also plays the dolceola, an
obscure sixty-string, seven-chord zither with a piano
keyboard. He will demonstrate ragtime, boogie-woogie,
blues, fiddle tunes, and gospel songs on both instruments.
Included with museum admission. Free to museum members.

Film Screening: The Winning Hand (1983)
Film Screening
Country Music Hall of Fame members Kris Kristofferson,
Brenda Lee, Willie Nelson, and Dolly Parton performed
together in the 1983 television special The Winning Hand.
Hosted by Johnny Cash, the program followed the release of a
double album of the same name, which featured unreleased
recordings from the performers' careers on the Monument
label during the 1960s. The television special captures
special performances, including a slew of unforgettable
duets. Presented in support of the featured exhibit Brenda
Lee: Dynamite, Presented by Great American Country
Television Network. From the museum's Frist Library and

Songwriter Session
Gary Burr wrote "I Try to Think about Elvis" (Patty
Loveless); "Love's Been a Little Bit Hard on Me" (Juice
Newton); "On the Side of Angels" (LeAnn Rimes); "Outside My
Window" (Sarah Buxton); "This Is The Night" (Clay Aiken);
"Till You Love Me" (Reba McEntire); "To Be Loved by You"
(Wynonna); "Watch Me" (Lorrie Morgan); and "What Mattered
Most" (Ty Herndon). Included with museum admission. Free to

Family Program: Making Records at Historic RCA Studio B
Family Program
Visit and record a song at Historic RCA Studio B, former
recording home of Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, the Everly
Brothers, and many more. In this interactive workshop,
participants learn the history of RCA Studio B and the
basics of the recording process by acting as artist,
producer, and engineer. CDs of the recordings will be
available for purchase. Transportation via bus to Studio B
is provided by the museum. The bus will depart from the
museum promptly at 1:00 p.m. and will return at 2:30 p.m.
For ages 9 to 15 and accompanying adults. Space is limited.
Reservations required. Program cost is $5 per participant.
