In celebration of the opening of the exhibition Patty Loveless: No Trouble with the Truth, Patty Loveless will sit down for a one-on-one interview with the Museum’s senior writer-editor, Michael McCall, who curated the exhibit. Loveless staked out a distinct place in country music beginning in the 1980s and into the 2000s, drawing on high-lonesome mountain soul, rollicking honky-tonk vitality, and heartfelt emotional balladry. Her talent for finding memorable material, including songs from outside conventional Music Row sources, and her intentional embrace of traditional country music has resulted in an enduring catalog that stands the test of time, including the hits “Blame It on Your Heart,” “Chains,” “Here I Am,” “How Can I Help You Say Goodbye,” “Hurt Me Bad (In a Real Good Way),” “I’m That Kind of Girl,” “I Try to Think About Elvis,” “Lonely Too Long,” “Timber I’m Falling in Love,” “You Can Feel Bad,” and “You Don’t Even Know Who I Am,” among others. This interview will be illustrated with archival photos, audio recordings, and video clips, and Loveless will perform briefly. Offered in support of the exhibition Patty Loveless: No Trouble with the Truth. CMA Theater. Included with Museum admission. Program ticket required. Free to Museum members.
