1:00-2:15 pm

1 Hr 15 Min

Celtic band Altan has been performing Irish folk music for more than thirty years. The band has won the National Association of Independent Record Distributors and Manufacturers’ (NAIRD) Celtic/British Isles Album of the Year award three times and has recorded or performed with numerous American musicians, including Alison Brown, Tim O’Brien, and Country Music Hall of Fame members Dolly Parton and Ricky Skaggs. He has collaborated with dozens of Celtic musicians for Transatlantic Sessions, a television series and concert tour that showcases traditional and contemporary music from the British Isles, Ireland, and the United States. This program, moderated by the Museum’s John Fabke, will explore the panelists’ influences, career highlights, and creative process, as well as the historic and current musical exchange between country, bluegrass, and Celtic musical traditions. Presented in partnership with Music City Irish Fest. Ford Theater. Included with Museum admission. Program ticket required. Free to Museum members.
