Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum volunteers generously donate their valuable skills and time in support of the Museum’s mission and are essential to our success. From greeting visitors from around the world, to assisting with music and art programs, to leading school tours through our educational exhibitions, there are numerous ways volunteers can celebrate, inspire, and share the unique history of country music. Come play a part!
Requirements
- Possess excellent communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and a professional work ethic
- Commit to 12 volunteer shifts for a minimum of one year
- Complete an interview and background check
- Attend an orientation training session
- Attend additional training courses as required for your position

Volunteer Opportunities
School Program Tour Guides*
Tour guides provide small-group tours to students visiting the museum with their school classes. Tours occur on weekdays, usually in the mornings. Potential tour guides should enjoy working with youth, have excellent communication skills, be dependable, and be able to lead a lively, interactive discussion.

Guest Relations
Guest Relations volunteers provide assistance to museum guests at various locations, including: the Demonbreun Street entrance, Hall of Fame Rotunda, elevators, and galleries. Guest relations volunteers welcome museum visitors, answer questions and provide friendly assistance throughout their museum experience, and provide a unique brand of hospitality to ensure a memorable experience for each visitor. Potential Guest Relations volunteers should have excellent communication skills, enjoy interacting with new people, and be friendly and outgoing.
Public Programs
Public Program volunteers support the museum’s programs for museum visitors, including weekly Songwriter Sessions, Musician Spotlights, and more. Responsibilities include sharing program details with guests, ushering, and more. Potential Public Programs volunteers should have excellent communication skills, be outgoing and friendly, and enjoy meeting new people and working with members of the public. Most programs take place in the museum’s Ford Theater.
Youth and Family Programs
Youth and Family Programs volunteers help youth and families learn about country music, past and present, through interactive and engaging programs and initiatives. Responsibilities may include assisting museum educators with: instrument and songwriting workshops, preschool song and story time, art-making activities, and more. Potential Youth and Family Programs volunteers should have excellent communication skills, be outgoing and friendly, and enjoy working with youth and families. Some volunteer opportunities require long periods of walking and / or standing. Most programs take place in the museum’s Taylor Swift Education Center.
Collections / Archival**
Limited opportunities are available for experienced volunteers to work with curatorial staff on special projects. Potential Collections / Archival volunteers should have prior experience in related fields, such as historic preservation, film and audio preservation, or research. They should be detail-oriented and able to work independently on a project.

Clerical
Clerical volunteers assist with data entry, mailings, filing, and other special projects in all areas of the museum, including: the library, Hatch Show Print, and other administrative departments. Most of these opportunities take place between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. Potential clerical volunteers should be detail-oriented, be able to work independently on a project, and have a professional work ethic.

Dick Kottler Volunteer Award
In honor of Dick Kottler’s tremendous contribution to the Museum’s mission, a special seat forever bears his name in the CMA Theater, the Museum’s state-of-the-art venue for live concert performances. Any volunteer that donates 10 years and 1,200 hours of service in support of the Museum is bestowed the Dick Kottler Award in his memory, and their names are also enshrined in the CMA Theater.
