The two-day Grand Master Fiddler Championship determines the top fiddler in North America. The contest was held annually between 1972 and 1997 at the now-defunct theme park Opryland USA, then resumed in 2005 as part of the International Bluegrass Music Association’s annual Fan Fest. In 2013, the contest moved to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Past winners, such as Mark O’Connor and Jimmy Mattingly, have gone on to successful recording and touring careers. Competition rounds will take place over two days, with performances interspersed. The new Grand Master Fiddler Champion will make an appearance on the Grand Ole Opry at a later date.
