Hank’s 100th: A Concert in Celebration of Hank Williams, presented by Spotify

21
September
Thursday

3:30-5:00 pm

1 Hr 30 Min

It’s hard to overstate the influence and impact of Country Music Hall of Fame member Hank Williams’s music, songwriting, and vocal style, or the tragedy of his untimely death. He scored dozens of hits in his short career, including “Lovesick Blues,” “Honky Tonkin’,” and “Hey, Good Lookin’.” Tony Bennett’s 1951 pop cover of “Cold, Cold Heart” showed the crossover potential of Williams’s songwriting, and over the past seven decades, his music has been recorded by artists in nearly every genre. In celebration of what would’ve been his 100th birthday, this concert will feature a diverse representation of the Americana community—Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie McCoy as well as Suzy Bogguss, Laura Cantrell, Della Mae, Rodney Crowell, S. G. Goodman, Jeff Hanna, Brennen Leigh, Lyle Lovett, Delbert McClinton, Chuck Mead, Wendy Moten, Williams’s grandchildren Hilary Williams, Holly Williams, and Sam Williams—performing interpretations of Williams classics in various styles. Chris Scruggs will lead the house band. Presented in partnership with the Americana Music Association. CMA Theater. Program ticket required. Non-members must purchase Museum admission here.
