Herb Pedersen has made major contributions to bluegrass, country, and country-rock music throughout a career at the forefront of American roots music for more than sixty years. An accomplished vocalist, guitarist, and banjo player, Pedersen is a founding member of the Desert Rose Band and was a member of the Dillards from 1969 to 1971. He has recorded solo albums and has also performed and recorded with Jackson Browne, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Dan Fogelberg, John Fogerty, Emmylou Harris, New Kentucky Colonels, Gram Parsons, John Prine, Linda Ronstadt, Earl Scruggs, Dwight Yoakam, and many others. This interview will be illustrated with archival photos, recordings, and film clips. Offered in support of the exhibition Western Edge: The Roots and Reverberations of Los Angeles Country-Rock, presented by City National Bank.
