Many artists customize the instrument they play, and some even collaborate with instrument designers to create personalized guitars, banjos, fiddles, and more. Drawing inspiration from the stylized instruments on view in the galleries—including Waylon Jennings’s leather-covered Telecaster electric guitar, Taylor Swift’s Swarovski crystal–encrusted Taylor acoustic guitar, and Bob Wills’s custom inlaid violin—young artists will imagine their own design on a paper guitar cutout. What symbols, colors, and patterns will you use for your design?
