Have you ever wanted to learn a musical instrument and play along to your favorite songs? Did you know you probably have a musical instrument sitting right in your kitchen? Spoons—often called bones, clappers, or clackers—are one of the oldest musical instruments. Join legendary Nashville musician Lucius “Spoonman” Talley for a spoons demonstration and to learn some beginner techniques. Spoons provided, or bring your own. Presented in partnership with the National Museum of African American Music’s FN2S (From Nothing to Something) program and in support of the Museum’s Discover Bobby Hebb project, part of a series exploring diverse voices in country music. Program made possible by a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission. Recommended for ages 7 and up, but all are welcome. Taylor Swift Education Center. Included with Museum admission. Free to Museum members.
