In celebration of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s ongoing songwriter interview series, Poets and Prophets, and as part of the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival, previous Poets honorees Gary Burr, Gretchen Peters, and Sharon Vaughn will share their stories and songs. Gary Burr wrote “Can’t Be Really Gone” (Tim McGraw), “I Try to Think About Elvis” (Patty Loveless), “Love’s Been a Little Bit Hard on Me” (Juice Newton), “Make My Life with You” (Oak Ridge Boys), “Sure Love” (Hal Ketchum), “That’s My Job” (Conway Twitty), “To Be Loved by You” (Wynonna Judd), and “What Mattered Most” (Ty Herndon). Gretchen Peters wrote “Let That Pony Run” (Pam Tillis), “My Baby Loves Me” (Martina McBride), “The Chill of an Early Fall” (George Strait), “The Secret of Life” (Faith Hill), and “You Don’t Even Know Who I Am” (Patty Loveless). Sharon Vaughn wrote “I’m Not That Lonely Yet” (Reba McEntire), “Lonely Too Long” (Patty Loveless), “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys” (Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson), “Out of My Bones” (Randy Travis), “’Til a Tear Becomes a Rose” (Lorrie Morgan and Keith Whitley), and “Y’All Come Back Saloon” (Oak Ridge Boys).
